CES 2025: Lenovo Doubles Down on AI and Sustainability With Its New ThinkBook Lineup

Lenovo has come to CES 2025 with some impressive tech, but few devices compare to their ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, a first in the world of laptops.

If you are like me, you have always wanted a laptop that is portable but can expand when needed—and that’s exactly what Lenovo has delivered. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable features a unique vertically expanding display that transforms from a standard 14-inch screen into an expansive 16.7-inch workspace with a simple keystroke or hand gesture. This innovative design provides users with nearly 50 per cent additional screen real estate while maintaining the footprint of a conventional 14-inch laptop.

While impressive on its own, Lenovo has managed to keep the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable incredibly portable, maintaining a remarkably slim design with a 19.9mm profile and a weight of just 1.7 kg. The device features a vibrant OLED display with 400 nits of brightness and 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour accuracy, making it ideal for creative professionals and content creators. It’s clear this device is tailor-made for creating content on the go.

Featuring the latest Intel Core Ultra CPU, the laptop leverages artificial intelligence capabilities, providing access to a range of features and technologies to expand computing potential. It comes equipped with Lenovo AI Now, an advanced on-device AI assistant that processes user data locally to ensure enhanced privacy. The system also includes Copilot+ PC integration, combining robust on-device intelligence with cloud capabilities to boost productivity.

For business users, the device introduces innovative features such as ThinkBook Workspace, which enables efficient split-screen functionality and provides quick access to frequently used applications through dedicated widgets. Additionally, Lenovo claims the vertical screen expansion not only offers more workspace but also promotes better posture during extended work sessions, though this remains to be tested.

CES 2025: Lenovo Unveils World's First Rollable Display With ThinkBook Plus Gen 6

As expected from a laptop aimed at creative and business-focused buyers, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable includes a range of connectivity options ready for whatever life may bring. It features Thunderbolt 4 ports and Intel Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, ensuring high-speed data transfer and reliable wireless connectivity. The device also includes an edge-to-edge keyboard and a high-refresh-rate 120Hz display, delivering a responsive and comfortable user experience. While I know I would use the laptop for video editing or other creative tasks, it feels tailor-made for a variety of uses, especially in an office setting. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is equipped for tasks such as document review, coding, and project management, with the roll-up display providing flexibility to best suit your work needs. Its virtual display technology allows users to create a second virtual display that can be shared during meetings, reducing the need for external monitors.

Sadly, as expected from a laptop redefining portable computing, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable will not come cheap. The laptop is scheduled to hit the market in Q1 2025, with a starting price of US$3,499. While this price point is not uncommon for business — and professional — focused laptops, it does place it out of reach for many casual buyers or those just starting in a creative field. That said, this is the cost many are willing to pay to be early adopters of new technology, and the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable clearly represents the cutting edge.

CES has only just begun, and we’re already seeing some incredible tech—many items I’d love to bring home once the show wraps up. Much like the ASUS Zenbook Duo last year, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and a laptop we at CGMagazine can’t wait to get our hands on.

Lenovo also made major announcements surrounding the Lenovo Legion gaming laptops, desktops and monitors, the Yoga and IdeaPad line, the Lenovo Legion Go handheld, Lenovo Go 2 Prototype and new Lenovo Legion Tab, and the ThinkBook laptop line.
